Liz Salmi is a curious person-turned citizen scientist who turned her brain cancer diagnosis into an open source chronicle of the patient experience. Today, her blog TheLizArmy.com receives more than 30,000 visits each year. Her interests include patient-driven research, the quantified self, open source health data, and neuroscience. Liz is a 2016 Stanford Medicine X e-Patient Scholar, and is featured in The Open Patient: Healing Through Sharing, a documentary about patients seeking access to their own health data.When she's not talking about brain cancer and patient empowerment, Liz is director of communications for the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making sure all people with chronic or serious illnesses receive education on advance care planning and have access to high-quality, patient-centered palliative care.
