My name is Alex Niles; not too long ago I was living life as any 30 year old would be -- that is, enjoying my family, friends, seeing the world, and following passions. Unfortunately, life took a bit of a detour after being diagnosed with Stage IV gastric cancer in the fall of 2013. Although receiving news like that obviously alters ones life, I refuse to let it dictate who I am and how I intend on living. I cannot control the fact that this is the situation I find myself in, but I have nothing but the strongest intentions of making the most out of it! I am writing a book, with the working title of Cancer Playbook, that is geared towards younger cancer battlers, and sets forth my positive, activist approach to fighting the illness.
